GULAB JAMUNS

Gulab Jamuns

Gulab Jamuns

Gulab jamuns are all-time favourite with both adults and kids.  It is a popular Indian dessert of fried dumplings in rose scented sugar syrup. This dessert is mostly prepared for any kind of festivities or parties. You can prepare this dessert with khoya (evaporated milk) or paneer (cottage cheese) other than the recipe I have shared here with you. This is not a quick recipe and hence now-a-days most of the shops have ready mixes available for gulab jamuns. When I am lazy I use the ready mix, which also is equally good.

Now let’s start from scratch….

ELA ADA

Ela Ada

Ela Ada

Ela Ada is a popular South Indian delicacy made of rice flour, grated jaggery and grated coconut. The coconut-jaggery mix is covered with the rice paste. You can substitute jaggery with sugar also. This is a steam cooked snack. If you do not have plantain leaves wherever you live, you can substitute them with aluminium foil or parchment paper but it never gives the taste and aroma of steaming ada in banana leaves. It can be served as a snack or part of breakfast. My entire family loves this yummy snack.

VATTEYAPPAM

Vatteyappam

Vatteyappam

Vatteyappam literally means round cake or round bread. It is a soft and fluffy steamed rice cake often made for Tea. The main ingredients for vatteyappam are same as that of appams  i.e. rice and coconut. You can make vatteyappams with rice flour and coconut milk, but I often use leftover palappam batter for making vatteyappams. You just need to add a few more ingredients to the batter and it is ready for steaming. My mother sometimes used jaggery while making vatteyappam but I use sugar. The taste, colour and texture differs if you use jaggery instead of sugar. I love the version with sugar since I feel it’s fluffier than the other one.

MICROWAVE RAVA LADDOO

Microwave Rava Laddoo

Microwave Rava Laddoo

Microwave rava laddoo is a very easy to make recipe. This laddoo recipe takes only 4 minutes to make from start to finish. Microwave rava laddoo tastes completely different from the normal rava laddoos because it is made from condensed milk. It has a rich milk taste to it. It is so easy to make, to satisfy your urgent sugar craving….and also makes a perfect sweet for parties.

My microwave has power settings of 750 watts. In this recipe you can also powder rava if you want smooth laddoos. I have only used 1/3 cup condensed milk in this rescipe, you can increase it as per your taste.

BROWNIES

Brownies

Brownies

This recipe makes rich, chocolate brownies with dense, fudgy middles and crinkly tops. They are so simple to make and they taste amazing. Instead of using chocolate, I use cocoa powder in this recipe. Cocoa powder doesn’t make these brownies overly sweet. If you are like me and find yourself reaching for dark chocolate over milk, these are most certainly for you. You must definitely give this recipe a try….
