French toast is an easy breakfast recipe. It can also make a great after school snack. My boys, Karthik and Rohit, love to have French toast anytime of the day. Well….because of the ease in preparing this toast, I too like to make it on a lazy weekend.

There are many fancy variations to this basic recipe. This recipe works with many types of bread – white, whole wheat, cinnamon-raisin, Italian or French. Sometimes I add cardamom powder to the mix, which I prepare for dunking the bread slices and it tastes delicious. You can serve hot French toast with butter or margarine and maple syrup.
