Chocolate Apples

CHOCOLATE APPLES

Chocolate apples are a healthy treat with a devious chocolaty twist. These chocolate apples are fun to prepare with kids and can be enjoyed anytime of the year. But, quite often, I prepare these during Halloween…..and my kids look forward to these yummy treats. You can have them either simply dipped in milk chocolate, dark chocolate (for the healthier version….lols) or in white chocolate. After this, the chocolate dipped apples can then be rolled with sprinkles, nuts, chocolate chips, marshmallows as per your kids taste. This is an optional step. My children prefer it with chocolate alone….

Chocolate covered apples are becoming popular and trendy. For this Halloween, I see all stores are devoted to these things! But don’t go spending exorbitant amounts of money at a store when you can make them in minutes at home. Here’s how….

Ingredients

Halloween Treats

Halloween Treats

  • 6 Granny Smith Apples, medium sized
  • 450 gms. Milk Chocolate, cut into chunks
  • 1 cup preferred topping (Oreos, coconut, peanuts, M&Ms, marshmallows etc.)

Method

  • Wash the apples under running water and dry thoroughly. Insert popsicle sticks or wooden skewers into the apples and set aside.
  • The apples will take to the coating better if they’re cold. Put them in the fridge to cool and prepare everything else.
  • Melt the chocolate in separate bowls by placing in a bowl over a pan of simmering water. Remove the bowls from the heat and dip each apple, one at a time into the milk chocolate and roll it around ensuring the whole apple is covered.
  • Dip the apples into toppings or sprinkle over.
  • Place on a parchment lined baking tray and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  • Decorate the sticks or skewers with some ribbon, if desired.
  • Yummy chocolate apples are ready. Enjoy!!
