Chocolate bread pudding is a sweet dish or dessert made with fried bread and topped with luscious chocolate syrup. This lip smacking, delightful, delectable, mouth-watering dish is an absolute favourite with my children. It is equally enjoyed by their friends.

You can make this bread pudding with cocoa powder if you like the chocolatey flavour or avoid cocoa powder if like it plain. Otherwise the recipe and cooking method is the same.

Every time I make this chocolate bread pudding, I remember my childhood days when my mother used to make this for us. As a child I always looked forward for this delicious bread pudding. Even now I can remember its delicious sweetness….

For this recipe you will require……

 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1 tbsp. Butter
  • 2 tbsps. Cocoa Powder
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla Essence
  • 4 Bread Slices
  • 3 tbsp. Walnut, chopped

 

Method

  • Heat butter in a pan and mix in the cocoa powder, cook over low flame for a minute.
  • Add the condensed milk and milk, mix well and cook over medium flame till thick.
  • Keep aside to cool.
  • Whisk the eggs and pour into above mixture. Whisk well again.
  • Add the vanilla essence and whisk again. Trim the bread and cut each slice into 4 triangles.
  • Arrange the trimmed bread slices in a greased glass dish. Sprinkle the walnuts over them.
  • Pour the chocolate milk mixture over the bread and allow to soak pressing the bread pieces without breaking them.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180º C for 15 minutes.
  • Serve hot or cold after sprinkling more chopped walnuts.
