Overnight oats is a quick and easy recipe for busy mornings. It is made by soaking oatmeal in milk or juice, resting it overnight in the fridge and then topping it with fruits, nuts, seeds, chocolate etc. Different types of milk such as almond milk, oat milk, soya milk etc. can also be used. You can also use any topping of your choice. Since this is a no cook recipe, it can be prepared under 5 minutes. It can be a great wholesome breakfast for those who do not have any time in the mornings to prepare breakfast and will keep you going till mid day.

Overnight oats is usually made in air tight mason jars as it is convenient to carry to work as well. If you do not have one, make it in a bowl. It is mostly served cold but can also be warmed on low watts if you prefer it that way. The cold ones are great for summers.

 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rolled Oats
  • ½ cup Greek Yoghurt
  • 1 tbsp. Chia seeds
  • ½ tsp. Cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp. Maple syrup
  • 1 cup Milk

For toppings:

  • Chopped Dates
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Chopped Almonds
  • Chopped Banana
  • Blueberries

 

 

Method

  • In a bowl, add rolled oats. To it add chia seeds, cinnamon powder and maple syrup. You can use honey instead of maple syrup. Or avoid any sweeteners if you don’t want to sweeten it.
  • Next add yoghurt, followed by milk.
  • Mix thoroughly.
  • Separate into two jars.
  • Refrigerate overnight or for 4-6 hours.
  • Before serving add toppings to it. For the toppings, into one jar add chopped dates, pumpkin seeds and chopped almonds. You can also add other nuts and seeds like walnuts, cashews, pine nuts, sunflower seeds etc. as per your taste. This will make dates nuts overnight oats.
  • Into the other jars, for the toppings you can add chopped bananas, blueberries etc. This will make banana berry overnight oats. You can add any other fruits or berries such as mangoes, kiwi, apples, apricots blueberries, raspberries, strawberries etc. You can also do a combination of fruits, nuts and seeds.
  • Delicious and healthy dates nuts overnight oats and banana berry overnight oats is ready to be served. Serve cold. Yummy!!!
